Lane W Phillips

My undergraduate degree as well as my master's degree was obtained from Brigham Young University. For my MS thesis, I studied wood fungus that creates spalting in wood. Therefore, I have a special love for spalted wood. I started out providing wood reel seats for fly rods but now I offer wood for anything you may like to make. Boxelder Burl is unique in that it is relatively white, has small tight burl eyes, and is one of the few woods that will accept multiple colors. Rod makers often choose this wood and Utah is known for its quality Boxelder Burl.

There are 5 main sizes of blocks

1- Reel Seats 1x1x4.25 inches,

2- Pistol Grips or Knife Scales 1.25x1.75x5.25 inches,

3- Knife Handles 1.5x1.75x5.25,

4- Game Calls 1.75x1.75x6 inches,

5- Fishing Rod Handle 1.75x1.75x8 inches.

I can cut the blocks in two for the grips.
